Operative squeegeeing a large shopfront window from outside

Window, shopfront and facade cleaning

From a ground-floor shopfront to a twelfth-floor curtain wall. Rope access, platform or pole-fed pure water — whichever is safer and faster for that building.

Glass is the one surface on a building that is read from inside and out, and the only one where neglect registers from a passing car. After rain and a few weeks of city dust, a shopfront says more about a company than the sign above it.

Method follows the building

Ground and lower floors are cleaned with pole-fed pure water: deionised water dries without a mark, so there is no wiping and no residue in the corners. Higher elevations are done by rope access, or from a platform where the structure demands it.

Working at height, properly

Work at height is regulated, and we treat it that way. The team is trained, equipped and insured, and every job starts with a written plan: anchor points, exclusion zone below, and who is supervising. We will provide method statements and risk assessments for your building file as standard — most property managers need them before we are allowed on site, and chasing them afterwards wastes a week.

If a building's anchors are not certified, you hear that before we take the job. Improvising at height is not something we do.

Scope

Glass both sides, frames, reveals, tracks and sills, plus internal glazed partitions. On facades that extends to aluminium trims and joints, and — by arrangement — removal of bird fouling and adhesive residue.

Frequency

Shopfronts on a pedestrian street want fortnightly or monthly attention. A glazed facade wants two to four cleans a year, depending on orientation and how close it sits to a main road. Buildings on heavy traffic routes soil considerably faster than the same building on a quiet street, so the schedule follows the site rather than a table.

Timing and access

Shopfronts early, before opening. Facades scheduled away from peak sun — on hot glass the water flashes off before it can be drawn down and leaves exactly the mark you were paying to remove. Where a pavement closure is needed, we arrange the permit.

Questions we get

Do you work at height without scaffolding?

Yes — rope access or platform. The building needs certified anchor points; where there are none, we quote for a platform instead.

Will there be streaks?

No. Deionised water dries without residue; streaks come from tap water and the minerals in it.

How often should a facade be cleaned?

Two to four times a year. Buildings on main traffic routes sit at the top of that range.
